Diplomatic Training Data Visualiser
This interactive visualiser displays details of African trainees who attended international diplomatic training programmes for newly independent states from 1955-1997. Scroll down for user instructions.
Each training course is organised as an 'event'. You can use the filters to the bottom left of the map to organise by time period, institution, location and origin. Filters may be part of the name and different filters may be separated by the | character (e.g. FSP|LSE). Clicking locations on the map, and the events on the timeline, also toggles these filters. Use ctrl (⌘ on Mac) and shift to cycle between or add events to the visualisation. The information box to the right of the map displays details about the courses and their attendees. Be aware that data from certain courses, certain years, certain individuals may be missing or incorrect, and that non-African trainees are not included in the database.
